Community

At The Admiral at the Lake, community is everything. Our residents love fostering new connections through their programming, clubs and outings and work hard to create an inclusive environment where there is something for everyone to enjoy.

“What attracted me here firstly was the people. I knew one couple who lived here who invited me for dinner. When I came, I found a dining room full of people talking to each other and having a great time, the vibe was very good.”

-Toni

“People have really felt a sense of community during COVID. At the very beginning, we weren’t even socializing among ourselves, but now this is our bubble.”

-Jan

Engaged Residents

The Admiral attracts intellectual, creative thinkers that crave new experiences and challenges. In a resident-driven community like ours, there are endless opportunities for enrichment.

“The Admiral has a wide range of residents who have a lot of different interests. Several are interested in art, and other things. There are many ways here to get new information and meet new people.”

Active Living

No matter how you prefer to maintain health and wellness, The Admiral gives you the tools and access you need. From our fully equipped fitness and aquatic center to the lakefront bike trail across the street, the hardest part of staying active is choosing how to spend your time.

“There are all kinds of great things to do around here in the city. I bike ride, I bike ride 3 to 4 times a week down Lincoln Park. We also take our dog for a walk, and there is a dog park a few blocks down.”

-Al

“I love all of the facilities here. We have a pool, whirlpool, weight room, machine room, and all different types of exercise options. These facilities are just wonderful, and I find it most rewarding. I can go down to the pool at midnight and just swim. These are things I couldn’t do in my independent life.”

-Al

Healthcare

Whether you’re thinking ahead or planning for a better financial future, you want to be assured of quality, long-term care when looking up continued care or assisted living reviews. At The Harbors of The Admiral, as residents’ needs change, their transition from one level of living to the next is a seamless process.

“We wanted to come to a CCRC because we had seen two of our really good friends who had strokes within 24 hours of seeing them.”

-Minna

“During our visit to The Admiral, we didn’t even visit the Harbors. However, that distinction of Lifecare or not Lifecare is very important from a financial standpoint. If you have Lifecare, the extra cost of being in the Harbors is the cost of two meals per day. Without Lifecare, you pay nursing home market rates. Just for this reason, I recommend to anyone considering The Admiral to not wait too long. Besides, if you come early, you can experience living in a place where living is really fun.”

-Harris

Friendship

A core aspect of the resident experience at The Admiral is friendship. As a tight-knit community, lifelong bonds are formed when sharing meals and moments with your neighbors.

“The welcome into the community was warm. Several residents invited us to dinner. We went to people with questions and they always had the answers. If we went down to dinner by ourselves, the restaurant manager would sit us at a community table where we met more people and also got to know a lot of people better.”
