Assisted Living Care

Looking for Assisted Living in Chicago, IL? You’ve come to the right place. The Harbors at The Admiral at the Lake provides personalized support in a warm, homelike environment.

Assisted Living at The Harbors delivers safety and security plus a full, active and engaging lifestyle. Unlike some senior living communities in Chicago, The Harbors accepts direct admission to our Assisted Living. Anyone who needs assistance with daily activities such as bathing, dressing or medication reminders is welcome.

Our culture is resident-driven, with everyone encouraged to participate. Residents direct the programs, activities and events, creating a lifestyle shaped to support and promote their hobbies and interests. Additionally, Assisted Living residents have access to all community features and amenities, adding a variety of possibilities to every day.

Personalized Care Designed To Meet Your Needs

We respect that no two people will have the same needs, expectations and preferences. To meet residents where they are, we customize Assisted Living services to each individual. As needs change so does our response, delivering the most appropriate level of care and support. This allows residents to live with confidence and their family members enjoy complete peace of mind.

Rather than caregivers, The Harbors staffs senior care partners. These senior care partners work closely with residents and families to learn what matters most to them.

As a Life Plan Community, also known as a Continuing Care Retirement Community, The Admiral eases transitions from one level of senior living to the next. Care and services in Assisted Living mean that residents can rely on help appropriate to their level of need. As these needs change, residents can access higher levels of comprehensive, uninterrupted care – including Memory Support, Skilled Nursing, and Rehabilitation – inside a familiar environment with people they know and trust. Help is only a few steps away.

FAQ

What Is Assisted Living?
Assisted Living communities offer more personalized care to seniors in a residential setting than Independent Living. The Harbors team helps individuals with activities of daily living to aid them in being as independent as possible.
When Should You Move to Assisted Living?
There are many options for senior Assisted Living, depending on the level of care required. If you find that your loved one has experienced a shift from independence to needing help with activities of daily living (ADLs), it might be time for Assisted Living. Contact a Residency Counselor to discuss what help you and your loved one need, and we can assist with helping you identify the right level of care.
What is the difference between Assisted Living and a Supportive Living community?

In Chicago, IL, the key difference between Assisted Living communities and Supportive Living facilities lies in funding and services.

Assisted Living is privately paid, offers upscale amenities and personal care, and does not accept Medicaid. These communities serve seniors who need assistance with daily tasks but do not require skilled medical care.

In contrast, Supportive Living is part of Illinois’ Supportive Living Program, accepting Medicaid. While both offer similar assistance with daily living, Supportive Living is more accessible and affordable, with fewer luxury amenities than Assisted Living.
